Police in Salisbury are appealing for help after an elderly couple’s mobility scooter was stolen.
The scooter was taken between the hours of 3pm and 5pm on the 8th June from a bus stop in Britford Lane. The owners had taken the scooter and parked it at the bus stop in order to catch the bus into Salisbury town centre. On their return the scooter was gone.
PC Fritz Macaulay, Harnham Community Beat manager said:
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the scooter being taken from the bus stop in Britford Lane or if anyone has any information about this theft. The owners of this are an elderly couple in their 90’s who rely on the mobility scooter for their independence. They are very upset that the scooter was taken and cannot understand why anyone would want to do this.
It is a cruel crime to steal a mobility scooter from someone who is vulnerable and we would like to hear from anyone who can help us get this scooter back to its owners.”
The mobility scooter is described as a blue ‘Prestige model –Explorer 6’.
If you have any information please call 101 and ask for PC Macaulay, Harnham Beat Manager or if you wish to remain anonymous please call crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A huge abnormal load will be travelling from Filton Airfield, Bristol to Kemble Airfield, Gloucestershire on Sunday which may cause delays throughout the county.
At approximately 07:00 hours on Sunday 17th June, a specialised load transporter carrying a Boeing 727 Aircraft Fuselage, will be escorted by Wiltshire Police from Leigh Delamere Services, Eastbound.
The transporter and its load will measure 6.10 metres (20ft) wide, 4.80 m (15ft-09ins) high with an overall length of 32.00 m (105 ft) and gross weight of 57 tonnes.
Due to the size of this transporter it will be slow moving and will have the potential to create congestion.
Patrick Dean, Abnormal Loads officer said:
“Wherever possible disruption will be kept to a minimum but hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient if they come across this load. Anyone travelling over this period to catch a flight or meet appointments should allow sufficient additional time.
Whilst this load travels up the A419 it will take up the entire width of the northbound carriageway and motorist are requested to be patient. Regular updates and travel information in respect of this abnormal load will be passed from our control room at Devizes when appropriate to help motorists plan their journey.”
The journey will begin at 07:00am from M4 Leigh Delamere Services East bound, where the load will be transported in convoy along the M4 to junction 15, travelling Northbound on the A419 to Cirencester before turning onto the A429 heading for Kemble
